Here are all the Libra season/October 2021 messages. I know Virgo season was slow in terms of the amount of content I put out and in me updating the site in general, but Libra season already feels different. I’ve been talking about Libra season since the beginning of the year – of all the months in the year, the ones that stood out to me were Aries season and Libra season. Yes, that could very much be a personal thing for me, but from what I encountered from those in my personal and professional life, I was not alone. As you read this now you may find yourself wondering “Aries season?! I don’t even remember Aries season!”, I know, it feels like lifetimes ago, but we will revisit it.
There is a lot I am picking up and feeling right now. It’s not even possible to put a fraction of it into words, but what I can, I will. Starting with your mission this season, if you choose to accept it, is to find yourself in anything/anyone and everything/everyone you encounter. Not asking for much, right?! You already do find yourself everywhere, but do you see it as such? Do you recognise that beauty and magic you admire in another is as much yours as it is theirs? That for you, it would not exist unless you were there experiencing it in the way that you do? What do you think that also says about the ugliness and evil you witness in the world? We have a relationship with everything, and there’s that word, so associated with Libra – relationship.
Everyone has a unique relationship with everything – people, ideas, things, dreams. Your relationship with everything that comprises the world speaks to the essence of you. I’ll give you an example. Here, right now in the UK there is a lot of talk in the news about topics concerning our basic needs – food shortages and an energy crisis. The staples of human life, to be fed and to stay warm. I even heard one person saying for too many this winter, it will be choice between eating and staying warm. I don’t say this to frighten anyone, but to highlight that even when it comes to the fundamentals we have a different relationship. Yes, we all need food and warmth, but is that all we are? For me, personally, hearing about this kind of news does not frighten me, although I can see how it is frightening, but it also encourages me to look at what I am prioritising in my life and more importantly, why, while also seeing how everyone’s priorities will be different.
My favourite show of all time is ‘Sense8’ and there is a scene in that when two characters visit for the first time. Kala, is a scientist from a prosperous family in Mumbai, India and she visits Capheus, who is a ‘mutatu’ (bus) driver living in a slum in Nairobi, Kenya. She finds him sat in his tiny home in front of a massive television watching a Van Damme movie (‘Lionheart’) and she tells him that the first time she visited a home like his in Mumbai, the people there also had a massive television, but no beds to sleep on. She asks “how can a television be more important than a bed?” From her perspective, as someone who enjoys many of the comforts life had to afford, she sees a place like his and prioritises things like a bed, which she sees as fundamental. Capheus responds “The bed keeps you in a slum, the flat screen takes you out” and he goes on to explain that the movie he is watching is how he fell in love with Van Damme and that whenever he needs courage, he watches it. Neither is wrong, they are not arguing the merits over a bed or a television, they are talking to understand one another. As one understands more about the other, their own truth is revealed.
The world has seen war, famine and atrocities before, but in my opinion, it is not hate or anger or judgement that has gotten us through those hardships, but the very human aspects of our ability to have compassion and understanding for one another. Understanding our relationship to the things in our life, the people, the rules, the patterns, and developing our interpersonal skills does not only benefit us at a social level, but also at a deep, internal one, where we see our relationship to ourselves and realise that all we really play out with others is that core relationship within ourselves.
I am here and I am looking forward to this month ahead. There is nothing to fear, because I will find me/us, and maybe even a changed me/us. I am looking forward to connecting with as many of you as possible this month.
