How To Be A Tarot Reader

If you’ve read The Secret To Reading The Tarot, then you already know about the first step in how to be a tarot reader.  But what if you want to read professionally?  Like any profession, the more you practice it, the better you will become, so I would really recommend that you do as many readings as possible.

In the beginning, most people practice on family and friends, but very soon you’ll need to start reading for people you don’t know.  A great way to do this is to offer your services online, there are many sites that can help you with this.  For example, you may want to try and read on a site like Biddy Tarot.  The beauty of sites like this is that there is no shortage of reading requests and you provide the free readings on the basis that the client gives you feedback about the reading.

Earlier this year, I joined the free readers on Biddy Tarot and even after 17 years of reading the tarot, I learned so much.  My main reason for doing it was that I had been very ill and I wanted to see how many readings I could handle, and the experience did really help me to understand what I could and could not do.  But it also helped me to really perfect my e-mail readings and to get an organised system for booking in readings.

Just some of the benefits you could get from offering your services on a Free Reading site are:

  • Invaluable practice to hone your skill as a Tarot Reader
  • Interaction with real people who provide real feedback on your readings
  • Real world experience of what it’s like to be a Tarot Reader
  • Ability to practice your professionalism and perfect a routine for when all your paying clients start booking readings

If you decide to offer your services on a free readings site, make sure you take it very seriously.  Treat it like a real job; don’t be of the mind-set that just because it is a free service you can be lax about timings and replying to reading requests.  This is a disservice to the clients, the hosting site, but also to yourself.  Having said that, do be honest about how long it will take you to respond to the reading requests.  You are providing a free service and you will have other commitments as well, and real life has a habit of throwing things up when you are the busiest.  Just keep your clients informed and there will be no problem; if it takes a week, or 2 weeks, so be it.

The other thing I would say is don’t go into it expecting to gain future paying clients.  Even before I decided to join the free readings site I was aware that most people who get free readings will continue to get free readings.  The great thing about this is that they’re in the perfect position to offer really helpful feedback.

Whether you do the free readings for a limited time or decide you’d like to continue for a longer period, I hope you will have some fun with it and really benefit from the experience because it will definitely show you how to be a tarot reader.
