Eight of Pentacles Tarot Card Meanings

208 8 of PentaclesThe image on this card shows a young man sitting on a work bench, using a chisel and hammer to etch a star on a coin.  Seven other completed coins are before him; six hanging on a post and a seventh on the ground.

The craftsman’s work may be seen as repetitive and perhaps even boring as he appears to be doing the same thing over and over, but he appears to be totally focused on his job and does what he has to. 

As he’s a young man, it makes me think he is an apprentice, perhaps learning a new trade or craft.  As boring and repetitive as it is, he is giving it his all; he is mastering the techniques required for this stage of the job.

The lesson here seems to be that no matter how repetitive or boring the work may seem for now it is necessary to apply oneself fully to the job at hand.  Only mastery of the current task will allow one to move up to the next level.
